El Nido is a 4th class municipality in the province of Palawan , Philippines . Its name is Spanish, meanng "the nest". According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 27,029 people in 5,191 households.

The municipality covers a north part of Palawan. The main industries of El Nido are fishing and tourism, being a popular diving location .
